Day 1: Damodra, 30 minutes from Jaisalmer. Night stay onboard Taurus in total wilderness.

Day 2: After breakfast, cross country camel safari (optional/as extra) to Khaba Fort, field lunch onboard Taurus at Khaba. Others on-board Taurus will drive to Khaba, after lunch all guests drive to Khuri, witness sunset over the famous sand dunes.

Morning and evening times are very special at Khaba Fort, imagine spending quiet time here with Taurus – the most well equipped ‘overland truck’, complete home away from home, the best logistics with outdoor kitchen on any recreational vehicle. Wake up for a cup of morning tea – we bet it’s one of the best ones you’ve ever had! While you are enjoying your breakfast, camels arrive with guttural sounds to invite you for an enthralling ride across the countryside. Go back in time to the ancient life of camels being taken on trade expeditions called ‘karvan’. Others will be driving through countryside on roads wide open landscape to Khaba.

Taurus will be waiting for you at Khaba Fort to host you with a ‘field lunch’ offering a commanding view over the village, part in ruins. We then drive on-board Taurus through a strikingly unique landscape to Khuri a typical Rajasthani village with thatched huts. It’s less crowded with tourists.   • Camel safari on Day 2 is optional at extra cost, to be intimated at the time of booking. Those who won’t opt for the camel safari will travel onboard Taurus through rural setting and meet the camel safari at Khaba Fort for field lunch.

By now you start getting used to living like a nomadic tribe, and we ensure that its ‘aristocratic nomadic lifestyle’. These pristine sunrises with a steaming cup of tea and the warmth of Taurus might just bring out your poetic side!

After early breakfast, Taurus revs up and sets its bearings to offer you peep into hidden world on the way to Munabao. It’s an exhilarating drive of 130 kms on the border road. Not everyone gets a chance to tread this road. The road from Khuri to Barmer of 252 kms has no infrastructure for tourists. There’s hardly any traffic – or habitation here. It’s a dream drive hugging the Indo-Pak border. Remote sand dunes keep us company all along. Only true explorers get a chance to visit these dunes! On this stretch, we will meet the simplest Indians who offer genuine smile and warmth, something we don’t often see in the cities.

Munabao is right on the Indo-Pak border so close one could blow ‘water bubbles’ into Pakistan! On arrival at Munabao, we will visit the border post to ‘meet and greet’ the soldiers and to express our gratitude. Visiting any ‘border post’ is a unique encounter and you experience adrenaline surge and our respect increases manifolds for the soldiers who guard our border 24×7 under harsh conditions while we sleep in peace. You will be in awe to see even basics of life are abysmally scanty at such locations. Our brave soldiers risk their life for our sleep, it’s here you experience patriotism first-hand.

After a relaxed breakfast, we visit a local sweet shop to buy world famous “GADRA LADDOO”. You will be treated like a star here in this small town and shopping becomes an unforgettable experience as you will be showered with warmth and questions by the curious rural folk. Let’s have a pit stop in the middle of nowhere for tea break, while driving to Kiradu Temple Complex or Barmer.

Railway War Memorial of The India Railways, one of it’s kind 

While proceeding to Kiradu/ Barmer, we stop at the most unknown War Memorial of the Indian Railways, to commemorate the sacrifice 17 railway personnel who made supreme sacrifice while maintaining the supply lines for the battle front of the Indian Army in 1965.

Also, we will visit the Kiradu Temple complex in ruins, called unexplored Khajuraho of Rajasthan.

  1. Explore Jaisalmer city on your own (it’s easy and cheaper) on arrival or at the completion of your program, if you are 1st time visitor to Jaisalmer. In case you need our help to coordinate logistics then we will extend best possible.
  2. Explore Barmer and around, under own arrangements.
  3. On the Day 5, you may travel onboard Taurus from Barmer to Jaisalmer to explore its beauty before homeward journey. Jaisalmer is connected by air now, it will be easy for you to travel by air for home.
  4. On the Day 5, from Barmer you may travel to Jodhpur by train, state transport buses or by taxi. Explore Jodhpur and its beauty under own arrangements.

  2. Taurus will be available from Barmer to Jaisalmer, at a nominal tariff Rs 500 per person for only transport between Barmer to Jaisalmer, does not include any other services and food.

NOTE

  1. We would like to suggest that Jodhpur should be explored on your own, if you need our help in coordinating services on ground i.e. taxi and stay, we will do our best on actual bills you pay directly. Though, it will be much cheaper to do direct bookings to explore via travel portals.
  2. Pick up and drop is available only for the group (8 guests) arrivals and departures. Less than that will be paid by the guests directly.

By Air: Jaisalmer is connected by air, under special scheme UDAN by the Prime Minister. There are daily flights to Jaisalmer now.

By Train: Jaisalmer is well connected with major cities.

By Road: Jaisalmer is well connected by good road as well.

  • Stay on twin sharing basis as described. During Corona Pandemic, we may pitch up single occupancy dome tents on ground.
  • Indian homely veg  meals as buffet (self-service), from the kitchen of Taurus only, without beverages.
  • One visit to the Border Post to meet and greet the soldiers, if circumstances allow.
  • The services of Taurus will be available from Damodra to Barmer.
  • Pick up and drop is available ‘on-demand’ as extra.
  • Taurus as transport to travel all onboard for the itinerary.
  • Stay onboard Taurus as per the accommodation available on rotational basis and sleeping bags are provided by us.
  • We provide Filtered Water to drink, please bring your own bottles to refill.
