ITINERARY IN DETAIL
Arrive at Damodra
On arrival at the campsite, check-in onboard Taurus near village Damodra; about 30 minutes of drive from Jaisalmer. Vast open spaces, absolutely quiet and peaceful, free of man-made disturbances and clean atmosphere and tranquility at its best, a catalyst for true rejuvenation! The sky gazing at this place is an overwhelming experience, whether its moonlit-night or dark sky filled with billions of stars. Enjoying a healthy homemade meal at such locations is beyond words and any price-tag.
VERY SPECIAL: On your arrival at the campsite, we would have setup for a memorable evening for you, an experience either a Maharaja could afford or you being guests of Taurus.
- Enjoy Croquet game.
- Golf putting mat.
- Table games
- Private sunset while sitting in comfortable camp chairs and sipping tea with hot snacks. Either a millionaire or you could do!
Night stay onboard Taurus will freshen you for the next day.
Visit Khaba and Khuri
A steaming cup of tea while you watch the captivating crimson sunrise over vast open undulating landscape, is an experience that you can’t get from any hotel room.
While you are relishing your breakfast in the open, the rumbling sounds of the camels nearby entices you for an enthralling cross-country camel safari to Khaba. Taurus will meet you at Khaba Fort to host you for a ‘field lunch’ offering a commanding view over the village which is part in ruins. From here, we drive through a strikingly unique landscape to Khuri, a typical Rajasthani village. We reach Khuri to see the quiet sunset over much less crowded sand dunes than Sam Sand Dunes. We then proceed to one of the resorts/camp to enjoy a cultural folk music evening, hot tea and hot snacks are served.
We come back onboard Taurus for the night at Khuri.
Desert National Park
The morning tea becomes a priceless experience at such locations! After breakfast, Taurus will drive you to Nature’s Paradise into the heart of Desert National Park where we can see blackbuck, chinkara, the Great Indian Bustard and other wildlife endemic to this Desert National Park. This place is like a holy temple for nature lovers and photographers. The whole time spent here, would replenish your soul with a new energy and aura. Spending time here in the folds of nature, is something which will leave you wonderstruck and in deeper connection with the elements. Night onboard Taurus, may be inside or outside the DNP.
OPTIONAL: If the whole group agrees we could extend our stay by one more day here.
Border Road drive to Munabao
- Unexplored pristine Sand Dunes
- Best of rural Rajasthan culture
- Unique experience, 130 kms of driver on Border Road
- Last frontier of the Indian Railways
- Railway War Memorial
- Gadra – famous for the Battle of Gadra City in 1971 War
- Visit Border Post at Indo-Pak border
- Buy handicrafts
Enjoying a steaming cup of tea in the delight of such locations and the warmth of Taurus while the sun rises may turn you poetic and desire to live like a ‘free bird’ by dismantling the shackles of materialistic world!
After early breakfast, Taurus revs up and sets its bearings to offer you peep into hidden world on the way to Munabao. It’s an exhilarating drive 130 kms on the BORDER ROAD (hugging the Indo-Pak border). Not everyone gets a chance to tread this border road. The eerie drive will surprise you as there is hardly any traffic or habitation on this road. The road from Khuri to Barmer of 252 kms has no infrastructure for tourists. On this stretch, we will come across the simplest true Indians who are full of care and warmth. It’s a road which you wouldn’t have imagined! We will also come across sand-dunes which rarely touched by tourists other than explorers. Only a few get to tread this border road hugging the Indo-Pak border, as its devoid of infrastructure to support touristy activities. Munabao is right on the Indo-Pak border so close one could blow ‘water bubbles’ into Pakistan!
On arrival at Munabao, we will visit the border post to ‘meet and greet’ the soldiers and to express our gratitude. Visiting any ‘border post’ is a unique encounter and you experience adrenaline surge and our respect increases manyfolds for the soldiers who guard our border 24×7 under harsh conditions while we sleep in peace. You will be in awe to see even basics of life are abysmally scanty at such locations. Our brave soldiers give their sleep for our sleep, it’s here you experience patriotism first-hand.
We bet no one can offer this experience, especially in homely comfort, other than Taurus. Night stay onboard Taurus somewhere in the middle of nowhere, next to railway War Memorial!
Reach Barmer
After a leisurely breakfast, Taurus roars to signal you for a wonderful drive to offer glimpses into the life of rural Rajasthan at its best, on the way to Kiradu Temple Complex. We make a ‘pit-stop’ at Gadra Road to buy the world famous ‘Laddoos of Gadra’. Once we reach Kiradu, we roam around and explore the place for photography. Night onboard Taurus near Kiradu Temple complex.
After morning tea, visit the temples once again, if you wish to photograph the intricate stone art. Enjoy leisurely breakfast, drive to Barmer and you have the following options to suit you:
- If you have to explore Jaisalmer, you may travel to Jaisalmer onboard Taurus @ Rs 500 per person; your program culminates on arrival at Jaisalmer, stay under own arrangements . Also, you may take train for homeward journey. There is an overnight train for Delhi, departure at 1645 hours
- You may peel off from Barmer to Jodhpur, by train or taxi under own arrangements. If asked, we can extend our help to coordinate travel arrangements for further departure.
